SHISHI MISHPACHTI IN THE DIASPORA
This program offers a wide range of activities with communities throughout the world for the purposes of strengthening the family unit and cultivating the relationship and interaction with Judaism and Zionism, as well as personally escorting guests during visits to Israel, and producing family events.
For as long as history remembers, candles have added a touch of festivity to any event. Birthday cakes boast little colorful flames, and romantic restaurants offer candlelit dinners. The candle light is soft and has a calming effect on those who revel in it.
Eishes Chayil (Woman of Valor)
The song Eishes Chayil, which is sung as part of the nighttime Kiddush, is part of the last chapter of the Book of Proverbs, written by King Solomon. Each line begins with a different letter of the Hebrew Alef Bet, and it perfectly describes the Jewish woman.
Friday Meal Dishes
- Fish - It is the custom of Jewish communities to eat fish on Friday night. Fish are seen as animals that are protected from the evil eye, since they live in the water and cannot be seen from outside the water.
